The Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery, VIC
The Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery is Australia’s first collaborative, biomedical engineering research centre located at St. Vincent’s hospital. The 11-storey centre features a light-filled full-height atrium, education centre, multi-level lecture theatre, exhibition space, ground-floor café, multiple seminar and tutorial rooms as well as a variety of specialised laboratories with PC2 requirements.
Gerflor’s Premium Compact was selected in the laboratories for its exceptional durability, hygiene performance and long-term value in demanding commercial environments. Featuring a high-density wear layer, outstanding abrasion and scratch resistance and a reinforced construction for dimensional stability, Premium Compact is designed to withstand heavy foot traffic while maintaining its appearance over time. Premium Compact incorporates bio-sourced raw materials derived from agricultural waste, delivering a low environmental footprint while maintaining the high durability and performance.
Tarasafe Ultra H2O was specified in wet areas to provide enhanced slip resistance and underfoot safety in environments exposed to water, ensuring reliable performance without compromising comfort or ease of maintenance. To create a fully integrated and hygienic solution, Gerflor’s Mural Plus 2mm wall vinyl was installed alongside the flooring, delivering a durable, seamless wall finish that supports effective cleaning and infection control.
